Vraell’s ascent on digital platforms has been nothing short of magnetic\, capturing a rapidly growing\, fiercely loyal fanbase drawn to his distinct sound and authentic presence. His captivating performances and unique connection with listeners have ignited a demand that extends far beyond his home base. Now\, as Vraell’s fans across Europe eagerly await live dates\, it’s clear he’s creating a positive like minded community that’s ready to turn online support into sold-out shows. The debut album Once A Blue Hour was released in March of this year. \nVraell\, the moniker of Alessio Scozzaro\, makes music in the quietness of spring and summertime dusk. His music delves into the darkness and beauty of healing\, painting an intimate picture with his deft guitar skill at the centre\, highlighting its presence and his deep understanding of the instrument. He began playing as a child\, studying classical music. That led him to begin writing his own works that infuses indie folk\, like Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver into his picking style\, while simultaneously drawing on the rich sound of composers like Ólafur Arnalds\, Max Richter and Portico Quartet. \nHis music celebrates the guitar’s malleability. Scozzaro sees the instrument as something that can hold the universe within it and he unravels it all; “Guitar has endless possibilities\,” he says. “I love figuring it out.” \nLISTEN NOW \n \n \n \n ALL SHOWS

SUMMARY:JOHN GRANT
DESCRIPTION:FOGGY NOTIONS PRESENTS\nJOHN GRANT\nNATIONAL STADIUM\n4TH OCTOBER\n \n TICKETMASTER\n \n\n	\n	Add to calendar	\n \n	\n \n\n\n	Google Calendar\n\n\n	iCalendar\n\n\n	Outlook 365\n\n\n	Outlook Live\n\n\n \nFoggy Notions presents John Grant & Special Guest LYNKS live at National Stadium Dublin on Saturday 4th October. Final tickets on sale now. \nThe great John Grant returns to a city where he is beloved amongst fans to play the National Stadium for the first time. \nA Top 10 UK chart entry for his 2021 album Boy From Michigan followed by some of the very best reviews of his career for 2024’s The Art Of The Lie confirm that John Grant continues to go from strength to strength. \nIn fact\, the last 15 years have been an astonishing era for Grant\, since the boy from Michigan released his belated debut solo album Queen Of Denmark after a prolonged exile from the music business. QOD was voted MOJO Magazine’s best album of 2010 and Grant’s profile has since risen massively through a series of rapturously received LPs that entwine acutely melodic chamber-pop with darkly glittering dance music tropes\, centred on synth-pop and disco. Against this brooding and inventive backdrop and channelled through his glorious dulcet baritone\, Grant unleashed autobiographical laments and diatribes\, as painful and intimate as they were caustic and savagely funny. \nMichigan is where Grant’s journey began where he felt compelled to hide emerging same-sex feelings from his God-fearing family and community. \nThe Grants’ move to Colorado where John spent his miserable closeted teens\, and the emotional fall-out\, led to severe depression and substance and alcohol addiction that he only managed to combat after the messy split of his band The Czars in 2005. \nEven so\, over six Czars albums\, Grant had mastered the art of gorgeous\, country-flecked melody and gripping narratives\, and once he’d embraced sobriety\, the exquisitely brooding and rousing soft-rock contours of Queen Of Denmark changed his life. Between that debut and The Art Of The Lie are four albums. 2013’s Pale Green Ghosts (recorded in Reykjavik\, after which he decided to stay) helped earn him Attitude Magazine’s Man of the Year award\, and then perhaps the greatest accolade so far\, a Best International Male Solo Artist nomination at the 2014 BRITS\, alongside Eminem\, Justin Timberlake\, Bruno Mars and Drake. After recording tracks accompanied by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra for BBC Radio 6 Music (later released as John Grant And The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra: Live In Concert)\, Grant released Grey Tickles\, Black Pressure in 2015\, his first Top Five UK album. 2017’s Top 20 album Love Is Magic was his most electronic to date\, co-produced by synthesiser savant Benge\, a member of the electronic trio Wrangler\, Grant’s collaborators under the collective name of Creep Show for 2018’s dynamic album Mr Dynamite and 2023’s Yawning Abyss. \nWhilst forging his own records\, Grant’s adventures in mood\, texture and sound has featured numerous collaborators\, including Sinead O’Connor\, CMAT\, Hercules And Love Affair\, Tracey Thorne\, Elbow\, David Arnold\, Kylie Minogue\, Robbie Williams\, Midlake\, Susanne Sundfør\, Cate Le Bon and Big Special \nGrant was also one of four vocalists to perform Songs Of Scott Walker (1967-70)\, part of 2017’s BBC Proms season backed by the BBC Philharmonic at London’s Royal Albert Hall – a venue that Grant had sold out on his own the previous year 2016. There have been soundtrack collaborations too\, with Grant’s songs featured in the film drama Weekend\, the HBO TV series Looking and Queerama\, which documented a century of LGBT+ pride and persecution. \nIf Grant’s records are beautiful cut jewels\, perhaps his star shines even brighter on stage\, typically backed by an empathic band drawn from Icelandic\, American and British musicians\, where this endearing character’s deeply personal sagas trigger an immediate response from his fanatical following. \nAs well as releasing and touring The Art Of The Lie the past year has seen Grant duet with the brilliant CMAT and provide guest vocals on a track with Big Special. Meanwhile\, this Summer will see Grant embark on one of his most ambitious projects to date writing the music for\, and starring in\, the ballet production of “A Single Man” premiering at the Manchester International Festival and then London’s Opera House \nIn other words\, the boy from Michigan has done good\, often against the odds\, quelling the demons and creating some of the most resonant singing and songwriting of the 21st century. \nLISTEN NOW \n \n \n \n ALL SHOWS

SUMMARY:PATTI SMITH
DESCRIPTION:FOGGY NOTIONS PRESENTS\nPATTI SMITH\n3ARENA\n6TH OCTOBER\n \n TICKETMASTER\n \n\n	\n	Add to calendar	\n \n	\n \n\n\n	Google Calendar\n\n\n	iCalendar\n\n\n	Outlook 365\n\n\n	Outlook Live\n\n\n \nFoggy Notions presentsPatti Smith and her bandon the 50th Anniversary perform Horses \n3Arena DublinMonday October 6th\, 2025 \nFoggy Notions is incredibly proud to present a historic 50 year celebration of one of the most influential musical documents of all time by a true icon of rock and roll and counter-culture\, Patti Smith. \nIn the fall of 1975\, Patti Smith gathered her band in Electric Lady Studios in New York City to record her debut album\, Horses. Released on November 10th by Arista Records\, it has come to be regarded as a seminal and landmark recording that continues to have resonance and relevance for succeeding generations of musicians and artists. Horses clarion call was: “three chord rock merged with the power of the word.” \nA poet and visual artist\, Patti had begun improvising her unique blend of song and hallucinatory imagery two years before\, appearing on cabaret stages and small clubs with the support of guitarist Kaye and pianist Richard Sohl. She honed her songs in this live setting\, allowing them to develop at will\, garnering an ever-growing audience within the Manhattan underground. By the time she launched a seven-week residency at the relatively obscure Bowery club\, CBGB\, in winter of 1975\, her band had grown\, adding include guitarist Ivan Kral and drummer Jay Dee Daugherty. It was during this time that she was signed by Arista president Clive Davis. John Cale was chosen by the band to produce the album\, and it was released on November 10\, the death date of one of Patti’s most important influences\, the poet Arthur Rimbaud. \nOpening with an anthemic declaration of personal responsibility – “Jesus died for somebody’s sins but not mine” – folded within Van Morrison’s classic “Gloria”\, Horses was a return to rock’s primal instincts\, seeking to awaken the spirit and promise of the music at a time when it seemed as if this sensibility was at risk of being forgotten. The album’s artistic reach took shape in the free-form flights of “Birdland” and “Land\,” where the expansive soundscapes of free jazz and propulsive rhythms and incantatory lyrics intermingled to provide an expansive sonic landscape. “Redondo Beach\,” “Free Money\,” “Kimberly\,” and “Break It Up” presented a worldview both idealistic and romantic. With the album’s final cut\, “Elegie\,” rock’s past and future were entwined within the “sea of possibilities” that became the present. Infused with poetry\, Horses is an uncompromising exploration that helped lay the groundwork for what would become known as the upheaval of “punk\,” though Smith and her band always attempted to avoid categorization: “beyond race gender baptism mathematics politricks\,” as Patti wrote in the liner notes\, adding “…as for me I am truly totally ready to go.” \nRobert Mapplethorpe’s iconic front cover photograph of Patti with her jacket slung over her shoulder perfectly captured this moment of becoming\, and indeed\, Horses was the beginning of a long musical career that resonates even greater today. The album has achieved many notable recognitions over the years\, notably The Charles Cros Award and included the Library of Congress in the National Recording Registry. It has been followed by another nine albums the National Book Award winner\, Just Kids; world tours and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. \nNow\, fifty years later\, Smith will honor the longevity and lasting influence of the album with a series of special shows performing Horses in its entirety. She will be accompanied by two members of the original group\, Lenny Kaye and Jay Dee Daugherty\, along with keyboardist/ bassist Tony Shanahan\, a part of her Band for thirty years. Jackson Smith also joins on guitar. Special Horses concerts have been set for seven cities in Europe: Dublin\, Madrid. Bergamo\, London\, Brussels\, Oslo and Paris. Nine cities in the U.S.: Seattle\, Oakland\, San Francisco\, Los Angeles\, Chicago\, New York\, Boston\, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia. \nPlease join us to help celebrate the final ride of our irreverent thoroughbred. \nLISTEN NOW \n \n \n \n ALL SHOWS

Tickets on sale now. \nNew York-born\, Tamil Nadu-raised singer and transdisciplinarian GANAVYA – “among modern music’s most compelling vocalists\,” according to the Wall Street Journal – has announced details of a new album\, Nilam\, due May 23\, 2025. It follows last year’s Daughter Of A Temple\, Gilles Peterson’s BBC 6 Music Album of the Year\, similarly declared one of 2024’s Top 10 Best Global Albums by The Guardian\, who applauded GANAVYA’s ability to harness “the power of communal harmony to touch something deeper than song.” Co-produced by Nils Frahm at LEITER Studio in Berlin’s Funkhaus complex\, the new album by “the singer whose work\,” says the New York Times\, “feels like prayer…with listeners hanging onto her every word” will be released by LEITER on vinyl and via all digital platforms. \nListening to the remarkable Nilam\, it seems implausible now that its inception might ever have been in doubt. So astonishing is its stillness\, so profound its communication of sentiment\, it feels as if it was always meant to be. A celebration of the ties that bind\, and possibly the most tender-hearted music we’ll hear this year\, it’s intimate and honest\, a poignant expression of gratitude for the blessings which keep us grounded\, if only we’ll recognise and welcome them. Indeed\, it could have been transmitted directly from soul to stereo\, from the way ‘Not A Burden’ lifts a weight off the world’s shoulders to the peaceful ‘Sees Fire’\, with ‘Land’’s gentle groove full of space\, ‘Nine Jeweled Prayer’ serenely precious\, and\, throughout\, GANAVYA’s vocals like ripples on a lagoon. \nYet the truth is it owes its existence to chance – an entity\, like truth\, to which GANAVYA is forever faithful – and the few days between her 2024 Berlin sold out debut and another sold out performance at London’s Union Chapel. This opportunity\, she was persuaded by LEITER’s co-founder Felix Grimm\, could be exploited to capture at last songs she had often performed live. And so\, accompanied by long-time touring companions\, bassist Max Ridley and harpist Charles Overton – with whom she’s toured over a decade\, describing them as “two of [her] most precious friends and teachers” – she entered the hallowed Funkhaus with Frahm behind the desk. \nNilam’s central theme\, GANAVYA confesses\, is “doing what we need to do to keep carrying on.” This perhaps isn’t surprising given her touring not one but two albums in a single year. Earlier in 2024\, she’d released the equally acclaimed like the sky i’ve been too quiet\, recorded with Shabaka Hutchings\, and a debut single for LEITER\, ‘Draw Something Beautiful’\, arrived soon after in July. “I feel like I barely made it out this past touring cycle\,” she says. “Some days are good\, and some days are bad. But the actual singing is always good. I realised\, with every bone in my body\, that unless you absolutely\, absolutely want to be a musician\, there’s just no sense doing this professionally. And still… I wake up every day and I am certain that I want to keep singing.” \nNilam takes its title from “nil”\, the Tamil word for ‘land’\, a decision made instinctively\, and not just because firm ground was what she was seeking during a difficult period of touring. “The word ‘nil’ can be a command either to move or to stay still\,” GANAVYA points out. “To the person being senselessly quiet\, it is a command to stand up for what is right. To the person being senselessly loud\, it is a command to stand still. To me\, it is balance\, the heart of the true rhythm of life\, of change\, of land\, of landing.” All the same\, the word perfectly describes these songs she’s played\, on and off\, across the years with Ridley and Overton. “The world changes and shifts and everything becomes dizzying as the earth keeps disappearing from under you\,” she concludes\,“but these songs have always been a place for me to stand\, a place for us to be in a way that I don’t really know how to describe. Music has always been the one true land…”  \nLISTEN NOW \n \n \n \n ALL SHOWS

Born during the lockdown as an experimental project between Borzone and Pickard in Philadelphia\, the group expanded as the two moved to New York\, adding Tobias for their debut self-titled EP\, which was produced by Rosenstock\, who was then integrated into the band. That first collection is one of self-discovery\, of finding the tools necessary to make songs within the band’s own ecosystem. Welcome to the Civilized World is born to a broken world; a corrupt inheritance – Evan Uschenko and Ille van Dessel are under no illusions about its futility – and yet\, this thing is alive. It’s an allergic reaction to the times we are living in: a welt that screams to be itched\, the purging of a modern sickness they could no longer stomach. Beyond rationality\, this record came from a place of gut feeling and a lack of any other option. Hell may have cracked wide open – but GHOSTWOMAN will not go quietly.\nGHOSTWOMAN itself only exists because Uschenko and van Dessel were the ones “stupid enough to commit to it”. Conceived by Uschenko after cutting his teeth as a touring multi-instrumentalist\, the project was brought to life in an abandoned farmhouse in Diamond City\, Alberta. There\, for two months\, he would make the self-released\, self-titled debut album which was produced and dubbed directly to custom-made cassette tapes. The music has always been beautifully inhospitable\, earned only by those curious enough to seek it out. \nExpanded by friends on the Edmonton circuit\, Uschenko took the project over the pond where he would meet drummer Ille van Dessel. Drawn to her talent and sheer excitement to make music which had been untouched by ego or cynicism\, the two became inseparable. A new life had begun.\nAnd then there were two. GHOSTWOMAN became a head-on collision between the switchblade rust of his guitars and her caustic drum beats which march them on toward a shared oblivion. Welcome to the Civilized World is an album to be a pure distillation of their shared vision. From its earliest sketch to its final form\, the only people to touch it were GHOSTWOMAN themselves. \nThe meaning of the album is inseparable from its meaninglessness. As Uschenko puts it: “The album is inspired by the absurdity of human behaviour and the circus that is life: sometimes feels like being in a room with no floor – that’s where a lot of these songs come from.” After losing friends to suicide over the past year\, the suspension of disbelief required to wade through the everyday had dissipated. If there is any meaning at all to Welcome to the Civilized World\, it is simply to keep going: there is no other choice. \nMusically\, GHOSTWOMAN are a sharper beast than ever: hypnotic spells of psych-grunge\, decaying Americana and instrumental locked-horns. Uschenko\, who presides over the vocals\, insists they are not important. Much of the lyrics are nonsense\, not written as much as abstractly sketched to feel out the shape of the music itself – but even in Uschenko’s dream grammar\, the force and feeling are no less potent. \nThe band’s process is intuitive rather than calculated; sounds are made in a chain reaction to one another. “5 Gold Pieces”\, with its filthy guitars and snarling\, livewire vocals was recorded as a test after they bought a tape machine. The first shot is often the best\, and that test is what you hear today. Everything they used to record is gone. “We buy old equipment or instruments which have a bunch of life and soul in it until we’ve used it all up\, and then sell it again so we can buy something else\,” explains Van Dessel. \nTrue to the band’s origins\, Welcome to the Civilized World is the story of Canada and Belgium across the span of two years. The tape machine seemed to pick up different shades wherever they recorded\, whether that was in the home of a close friend of Uschenko’s\, for example\, surrounded by creature comforts including the dog he loves\, [Levon – named after the late great Levon Helm] after whom the album track was christened. Or in a cottage in Ardennes\, Belgium during an interminable winter surrounded by blankets of snow; an hour’s walk away from anything civilized.\n“Alive”\, the record’s lead single\, was written on a particularly perfect day in rural Belgium. In an earlier iteration\, the track was called “Pondi” – named after a hedgehog they had discovered at the pond in the garden\, which they felt to be a good omen. The writing of it was frictionless and instinctive; another “line-check-turned-complete-song”. In van Dessel’s mind\, “Alive” is like a moment captured as a photograph – something ephemeral that existed once\, and will never be replicated again. And that\, in its essence\, is a GHOSTWOMAN record. \nWelcome to the Civilized World is not concerned with making music for an audience\, not for the music industry and not for any particular point other than the thrill of it. Nothing matters\, we are all doomed\, the sun will swallow the earth and our efforts turn to dust anyway. The band will continue to play as the ship goes down. \nLISTEN NOW \n\nhttps://youtu.be/l4rYIWJXHvc?si=7qZDoX9Lxx5nOvdT\n\nALL SHOWS

With its graceful collision of soul and psychedelia and sometimes ’70s funk\, it’s abody of work that invites both self-reflection and wildly joyful movement\, and ultimately sparks a quiet transcendence. At turns ecstatic and heavy-hearted\, gloriously shambolic and deeply purifying\, UkinBtheSunis the outcome of a certain personal transformation that Ford has experienced in recent years. “I used to speak more in metaphors\, but this album came out in a much more raw and direct way\,” she says. “I’d say that’s a result of being more in my body and more in touch with the wholeness of anger\, with taking up space and having boundaries. On this record I freed myself from the folk-writing format\, and it’s been a whole different exploration for me.” \n“… the instrumentation is face-meltingly amazing” – Julia Jacklin (for UNCUT) \n“Don’t be fooled by the glittery jumpsuit. Frazey Ford is out for blood.” – NPR \n“Ford tiptoes between soft jazz\, smoky soul\, and austere country” – Pitchfork \n“It’s hard to think of another singer who suggests Dolly Parton\, Ann Peebles and Feist. Tickets on sale now \nJAZZ SABBATH\nJazz\, Plagiarism & Lies \nTHE TRUTH\nJazz Sabbath were at the forefront of the underground UK jazz movement in the late Sixties. They were recording two albums in 1969\, but both seemed destined never to be released. Until now. \nDue to legal disputes with a session player the recording of the second album had to be abandoned and never to be mentioned again. Their first album was finished\, but when news broke that pianist and band leader Milton Keanes had suffered a massive heart attack\, the record label cancelled the release. They didn’t want to risk releasing an album from a band that might lose its musical leader. \nWhen Milton was finally released from hospital in September 1970\, he found out that a band from Birmingham\, had since released two albums containing metal versions of his songs. Milton tried to contact his record label\, only to find out it didn’t exist anymore and the label owner was in jail. All recalled Jazz Sabbath albums had been destroyed when the warehouse burned down in June 1970; which turned out to be a case of insurance fraud by the label owner. \nWithout any physical proof that he wrote the songs\, Milton was powerless to do anything. Even more frustrating: that Birmingham band had named itself after one of his songs; only adding insult to injury. With the other band continuously releasing more albums of Milton’s songs\, the three members of Jazz Sabbath decided to part ways. \nThe discovery of the debut album’s master tapes in 2019 and the following re-release of the album in 2020 has changed everything. With the theft by the band from Birmingham exposed\, Jazz Sabbath have reunited and finally finished recording their second album. \nThey can now present their songs in their original form\, proving that the heavy metal band worshipped by millions around the world are in fact nothing more than musical charlatans\, thieving the music from a bedridden\, hospitalised genius. \nTHE OTHER TRUTH\nMilton Keanes is actually Adam Wakeman\, longtime keyboard & guitar player for Black Sabbath & Ozzy Osbourne. \nIn 2013\, on a night off in Germany during one of the Black Sabbath tours\, Adam and Sabbath’s security guard sat at the hotel bar early in the morning. The security guard asked if Adam could play the Sabbath set on the piano in the bar. Adam thought it would be fun to play the songs as jazz improvised versions and then played until the bar staff wanted to go home. \nThe idea grew\, as Adam invented the character and backstory of Milton Keanes (which he always thought to be a great name for a jazz pianist). In 2020 the first Jazz Sabbath album was released\, accompanied by a mockumentary about Jazz Sabbath and their unfortunate history. \nThe mockumentary gained extensive media coverage and sparked some controversy among Black Sabbath fans. The album itself got rave reviews from both rock and jazz critics. A second album\, Vol. 2\, was released in 2022. Both albums entered the Billboard jazz charts and got special mono Record Store Day releases. \nOn the albums Adam is joined by Ash Soan (Adele) on drums and Jerry Meehan (Robbie Williams) on bass\, plus a number of guest musicians\, such as Gus G (Ozzy Osbourne\, Firewind)\, Fraser T. Smith (Sam Smith\, CeeLo Green) and Simon McBride (Deep Purple). However\, all go by their 1960s pseudonyms. \nLISTEN NOW \n\n\n\nALL SHOWS

What are we doing with our limited time in this life? What is our purpose? What should we be doing? \nFor the past 25 years\, MONO have explored themes such as the relationship between darkness and light; hope in the face of disaster; and the duality of birth and death. On their 12th full-length album\, OATH\, they ponder the time that makes up life\, and how to make the most of that time. \nRecorded and mixed with longtime friend and collaborator\, Steve Albini\, OATH opens like a sunrise with a slowly ascending orchestra and brass section\, the full band taking its time to revel in the atmosphere before joining in the splendour. Throughout the album’s 71-minute runtime\, MONO meditates on that theme of time and life in myriad ways. The unhurried evolution of a song that is a hallmark of MONO’s catalog is infused with an air of elegance that elevates OATH to new heights. \nMONO challenged themselves with a universally relatable existential examination\, and answered with OATH\, an album that offers benevolent reflection rather than fleeting respite. \n“We live with a vow that hasn’t changed since we were children. Hear the wind sing. We are part of the universe. We already know what we should do and what the most important thing in life is.” – Takaakira ‘Taka’ Goto\, MONO \nTakaakira ‘Taka’ Goto (Guitar) • Tamaki (Bass\, Piano) • Yoda (Guitar) • Dahm (Drums) \nThe Tokyo\, Japan-based 4-piece Instrumental Rock band MONO was originally formed in 1999. Their unique approach of combining moving orchestral arrangements and shoegaze guitar noise is held in extremely high regard; so much so\, that the band’s unique musicianship and diverse musical palette have eclipsed the Rock genre and exist within their own realm. As British Musical Magazine NME once stated\, “this is music for the Gods”. \nOver the first decade\, MONO rapidly established a well-acclaimed status\, especially with their live performances. Through their annual world tour consisting of around 150 shows\, visiting now over 60 countries\, both critics and fans of Rock music agree their sheer euphoric\, dynamic resonance of performance makes MONO one of the best live bands in existence. \nA particularly monumental early live memory was a special set of 10th anniversary shows\, held with an orchestra\, in New York\, Tokyo\, London and Melbourne; which was later immortalised as the live album “Holy Ground”. MONO now proudly holds the title of being one of the most internationally successful bands in Japan. For the respective anniversary show in Tokyo\, they also had the pleasure of collaborating with NHK Symphony Orchestra master Fuminori Shinozaki. \nOutside of the studio and live music\, MONO has also made its name as a film score composer. After releasing 10 successful albums including a live album with an orchestra\, the band received the highly regarded award The Marshall Hawkins Awards: Best Musical Score – Featurette from the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema for their collaborative short film “Where We Begin” in 2015\, and the band was also nominated for Ariel Award for Best Original Music Score for the feature film “The 4th Company” which was released in 2016. In addition\, the band handled the music for such media work as the feature film “All God’s Children Can Dance” written by Haruki Murakami\, the original TV drama “Kanata No Ko” by Japan’s leading broadcasting network WOWOW\, the feature film “Real Onigokko” written and directed by Sion Sono\, and more. \nIn 2018\, MONO began a new journey. After welcoming the new drummer Dahm\, the band started to prepare for their second decade’s celebration and during this time\, they received a special invitation to be one of the headliners of London’s Meltdown Festival\, personally requested by the 2018’s curator Robert Smith of The Cure; an unforgettable gesture and honour for the band\, from one of the band’s long-time inspirations. The stage was then shared with artists such as My Bloody Valentine\, Nine Inch Nails\, Mogwai and Deftones. \nThe band’s 20th anniversary was welcomed the following year. To commemorate this occasion\, the 10th album “Nowhere Now Here” was released alongside a year-long world tour\, consisting of 4 special orchestra shows in New York\, Chicago\, Los Angeles and London\, ending in March 2020. One of the orchestra shows\, held at the historic Barbican Hall in London\, performed to a rapt sold-out audience of 2\,000\, was once again immortalised as a live album “Beyond the Past” which charted at #2 on Billboard’s Classical Crossover Albums in the US. \nNow\, MONO enters the third decade. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020\, the band starts production for a new album with one of the band’s longtime partners Steve Albini. The 11th new album\, entitled “Pilgrimage of the Soul”\, was released in September of the following year\, which charted at #85 on Billboard’s General Album Sales in the US for the first time\, and also charted #2 on Alternative New Artist Albums. \nIn 2022\, the band starts on a new soundtrack work for the documentary film “My Story\, the Buraku Story”\, directed by Yusaku Mitsuwaka. After nationwide premieres the same year\, the film was awarded first place in the Cultural Film Award at the 96th Kinema Junpo Best Ten. \n2024 marks the 25th anniversary of MONO. To celebrate this occasion\, the band released their 12th album “OATH” on June 14 and toured 16 countries—France\, Belgium\, Germany\, the United Kingdom\, the Netherlands\, Denmark\, Sweden\, Finland\, Hong Kong\, Taiwan\, Thailand\, Malaysia\, Singapore\, China\, Japan and the United States—with an orchestra from October to December. Some footage from the New York show was later broadcast by the Japanese TV network NHK on the programme “Catch! World’s Top News”\, featuring exclusive interviews\, in January 2025. \nThe band is now touring across 24 cities in North America. \nLISTEN NOW \n\n\n\nALL SHOWS

Maybe if you’re lucky they can help you fly.” \n± \nThe album began with the striking of a bell. “I had to walk through a very long and winding gorge to reach it\,” explains Jack Barnett of the small and isolated Greek Or-thodox church\, which he encountered by chance. Thinking little of it\, the band’s vocalist and principal songwriter made a field recording – field recordings have long been part of his practice. In fact\, as he states today\, “that one bell strike set much of the album in motion. It suggested a set of pitches\, which led to a song\, and another song\, and anoth-er song.” \nBack in London\, the duo began honing tracks from dozens and dozens of ideas at Jack’s studio. “It’s like a vision of Hell\, a Bosch painting\, just this ginormous rubbish dump\,” describes Jack of the industrial waste processing facility next to which he lived and worked\, “there’s bits of trees\, cars\, kids’ toys\, just all this dirt and filth everywhere. Every broken remnant of life you can imagine.” These New Puritans’ unit was sand-wiched between this and a couple of vigorous Evangelical churches – Sundays were cer-tainly interesting – and it became imperative to counterbalance the bells and classical instrumentation with something loud enough to cut through the cacophony. “We’ve always had that balance between the sublime and the filth”\, notes George. \nIt is no great revelation that there have been long pauses between TNP albums. Why? The brothers half-joke about it being a protest against the overabundance in modern music\, or a deliberate process of artificial scarcity. \nIn fact\, in These New Puritans’ case it is a red herring for a workrate that is intensive\, continuous and entirely DIY. This is a legacy\, one might speculate\, from their unas-suming Essex origins. “Music should flow out of your life\, it shouldn’t be a separate ac-tivity\,” says George of their method\, “Jack just doesn’t stop working.” While their sound can perhaps be deceptively sophisticated\, they are entirely self-taught. \nSince 2010’s Hidden\, These New Puritans’ unorthodox and highly structured method has meant notating all of the music before recording in groups and as soloists (Jack taught himself to do so specifically for the album)\, before combining these. It is only then that the real work of deconstructing and rearranging the material can begin. It’s an approach that bears little relation to how a band is expected to work\, part of an unor-thodox practise that brings in classical ensembles\, pop stars\, conductors\, video artists and more; this is a band equally comfortable making guest live appearances with sonic experimentalists Nurse With Wound as remixing Björk or soundtracking for Hedi Slimane. \nOne notable appearance on Crooked Wing is the boy soprano\, whose voice opens and closes the record (on ‘Waiting’ and ‘Return’ respectively.) He was recorded in another remote church\, this time in the stark landscape of their home county Essex\, with its sprawling marshes\, mudflats\, concrete industry\, and austere\, isolated beauty. \nIt’s the track ‘Bells’ that perhaps best conveys the album’s rich yet restricted sonic pal-ette: organs\, ancient bells and pitched percussion. The church organ – an “instrument of love and fear” says Jack\, which has traditionally conjured both the celestial and the demonic – was all recorded in either Essex or Carinthia\, Austria. ‘Bells’\, with its phased rhythm evoking Steve Reich\, Jack Barnett’s unaffected Thames Estuary croon\, and non-linear song structure\, is some of the most startling and powerful music of the band’s recording career. \nReuniting with Graham Sutton – who produced Hidden and Field Of Reeds – on Crooked Wing the band worked extensively on the record’s detailed textures\, but with cinematic breadth and scope. On a These New Puritans album\, any one song can con-tain influences from jazz\, electronica\, classical\, industrial music\, hip hop\, or surrealist inversions of classic crooned balladry\, without any one being overwhelmingly obvious. \nIt was during work on Crooked Wing that Caroline Polachek got in touch with TNP. “I was driving around Mallorca listening to the demos\,” remembers George\, “and Jack happened to have a song that basically had a demo vocal sound that sounded eerily like Caroline’s voice.” This became ‘Industrial Love Song’ which\, in a thrilling bit of misdi-rection\, does not come out of the harsh and transgressive sonic tradition but is in fact a romantic ballad from the perspective of two cranes on a building site. “The result sounds electronic or superhuman\, but it’s 100% her natural voice\,” says George\, “it’s incredible how she could do that.” \nThe same can be said for George’s drumming. On ‘A Season in Hell’\, the stuttering ag-gro drums that were a feature of earlier These New Puritans releases such as Hidden contrast sharply with the album’s otherwise heavenly quiet – it’s one of the most thrill-ing moments on Crooked Wing\, as it climaxes to an orgasmic screamed vocal. \nThese are songs about machines\, underground worlds\, non-human love\, light\, the sea\, death at its most specific and least general\, cartoon characters crossing wastelands\, and – ultimately – the fragility of small human beings against the whirring of gears and the clanking of chains. Pushing the beautiful up against the brutal\, the lullaby with the ca-cophony\, has always been These New Puritans’ way. \n± \nA little history. The Barnett brothers were born just two minutes apart in the Essex coastal city of Southend at the close of the 1980s. Their father worked as a builder\, their mother an art teacher. At around 7 or 8 years old\, the twins began playing music\, grad-uating from plastic toy guitars and karaoke microphones to learning Captain Beefheart songs and recording on cheap four tracks in their early teens. One crucial and revealing hobby was slowing down the sonic pyrotechnics of Aphex Twin tracks\, all the better to understand their vertiginous peaks and sudden\, gurning drops frozen in slow motion. \nAfter realising that forming a band was essential to getting gigs in and around South-end\, an early version of These New Puritans was formed in the late 2000s featuring Thomas Hein and Sophie Sleigh Johnson. “We would drive up to London in our dad’s work van\,” says Jack Barnett\, “then in the same van go to work on building sites the next day.” Debut album Beat Pyramid (2008) afforded the band a breakthrough. Its brittle post-punk (albeit with a dose of Timbaland-era pop) stood out amongst the rel-atively conservative musical landscape of the time\, but what happened next was far more interesting. \nMost careers struggle to contain even one seismic direction shift: These New Puritans pulled off two in quick succession. Stark and confrontational\, Hidden (2010) used Jap-anese Taiko drums\, a children’s choir and the sound of sharpening knives to conjure their first masterpiece. It was NME’s album of 2010\, at the same time praised by The Wire magazine and broadsheets for its sustained fusion of Benjamin Britten\, J Dilla and Diwali Riddim. \nBut just as Hidden was winning acclaim\, something quickly changed. Field Of Reeds (2013) was yet another startling left turn\, a grand and cinematic reverie built on com-plex woodwind\, brass\, strings\, choir and deep bass vocal arrangements – and a record-ing of a harris hawk. It was once again widely acclaimed\, and led to a 2014 tour with a 35 piece orchestra which took in Paris’ Pompidou Centre and London’s Barbican (later released as Expanded: Live at the Barbican). \nToday\, it is easier to understand these left turns and the band’s mercurial outsider sta-tus as part of a longer\, visionary tradition that includes Coil and late period Talk Talk\, even Robert Wyatt. These were all quasi mystical artists who ploughed the hidden seams of the landscape and worked solely to their own private clock. “It’s very English what we do\,” says George\, who says that not being easily explainable has been a dou-ble-edged sword to These New Puritans\, “it’s the grit in the pearl.” \nFollowing Field Of Reeds\, Jack Barnett spent a period living and working at a former East German radio control centre in Berlin. The result was Inside The Rose (2019)\, a deliberately direct and even romantic album that pared back its predecessor’s orches-tral ambitions to something more propulsive and shimmering. The band were hand-picked by David Lynch for an appearance at the Manchester International Festi-val’s David Lynch Presents event. Then\, just weeks before the Covid-19 pandemic\, These New Puritans debuted The Blue Door at The Barbican\, an audio-visual perfor-mance with scaffold and silk sculptures by George\, centred on Inside The Rose with an expanded percussion ensemble. Plans for an international tour of the show were put on ice. \nIn 2025\, with the genre-defying Crooked Wing\, These New Puritans continue their ut-terly committed and maverick career with their most moving and powerful release to date. \n“For me it’s an article of faith\,” says Jack of the band’s defining mission\, “that if you do your own thing\, you’ll find your place. You’re running a different race to everyone else then you’re guaranteed to win it.” The brothers are back: ring the bells. \nLISTEN NOW \n\n\n\nALL SHOWS

Tickets on sale now. \n“Will Anderson amplifies everyday heartbreak with towering shoegaze and supersized power-pop anthems that demand to be played loud.” — Pitchfork (Best New Music) \nHotline TNT — the New York-based band fronted by Will Anderson — announce their third album Raspberry Moon\, out June 20th via Third Man Records and share its lead single\, “Julia’s War.” The follow up to Cartwheel\, the band’s “exquisite” (Billboard) 2023 breakthrough\, Raspberry Moon is the most sweeping and compelling Hotline TNT album to date and\, crucially\, the first built by a full band. Funneled into the album are moments of vulnerability and romance\, creating a generationally great statement of youthful wistfulness and very adult growth that also happens to be very charming and sometimes funny. \nWhile in the studio of modern D.I.Y. hero Amos Pitsch (Tenement)\, Anderson found himself in an unusual position. This time\, and for the first time\, the quartet that had toured for the last 10 months as Hotline TNT had come with Anderson\, somewhat unexpectedly. He had intended to make one more album his way—holing up with a producer and building songs piece by piece\, as he’d done for Cartwheel—before making Hotline TNT a full-band affair in the future. But there was no avoiding it. Guitarist Lucky Hunter\, bassist Haylen Trammel\, and drummer Mike Ralston wanted in. Anderson relented. \nIn making Raspberry Moon\, Anderson confronted a burgeoning if occasionally difficult belief: Hotline TNT was now a band\, and this was the band. The benefits are self-evident— it is the most texturally rich and energetically nuanced album Hotline TNT has ever made—from start to middle to finish. Some of these 11 songs deal with the sting of regret\, of being left or leaving\, as Hotline TNT always has. But this is a record animated by a sense of newness and possibility\, of pushing back against the global sense that curtains are closing to make room in your own life for new friends. It is perfect music for looking forward\, no matter how fucked the past may feel. \nLead single “Julia’s War” is an anthem of nascent affection where a simple and wordless chorus of “na na na nah” paints a horizon of possibility. The guitars are perfectly warm and sharp\, cutting into you but simultaneously pulling you into the song. Of the track\, whose title is a hat tip to regional contemporary They Are Gutting A Body of Water’s sprawling imprint\, Anderson says: “In a world of half-hearted hooks\, and buried-in-the-mix vocals\, we had to muster the courage to do what the rest of the shoegaze community could not… We looked out to the stadium and reassured the audience: Our voices\, together\, will be heard. You’ve never heard a TNT chorus this straightforward – when we stress-tested it during the writing process\, the ‘try not to sing along challenge’ came back with a 100% fail rate.” \nOf the song’s accompanying video directed by Johnny Frohman\, Anderson says: “When it came time to cook up the music video\, Johnny Frohman created a Full-Metal-Jacket-style shoegaze bootcamp… It’s not the Marine Corps\, it’s Slow Corps. Edy Monica\, Dan Licata\, Peter Mills Weiss\, and an ensemble cast of NYC comedy underworld alts rounded out the platoon and drafted us into a world where we could enlist in a strict regimen of pedalboard assembly and underwater vocal lessons.” \nMusical auteurs have been a feature of rock ’n’ roll since its very early days—folks who could imagine a sound and the path to it\, largely alone. Something akin to Moore’s Law has made it easier to become exactly that during the subsequent decades\, since studios with solid gear are now as accessible as a bedroom. It is increasingly convenient to be solo. The real work\, though\, is to abandon the ego and singular devotion to your absolute vision and make something better with the people you trust. Hotline TNT has done exactly that on Raspberry Moon\, an album where Will Anderson gives himself space to fall in love with the world around him and sing as much in songs so loaded with hooks you’ll need to choose which ones to hum at any given moment. \nPraise for Hotline TNT and Cartwheel \n“The way this album combines big\, bracing distortion and hummable tunes could make any Hüsker Dü fan smile.” — Rolling Stone\, Best Indie Rock Albums of 2023 \n“[Cartwheel] is an exhilarating blend of driving indie and alt-rock\, power-pop\, and shoegaze… Anderson’s deft songwriting [makes] feeling bad sound so good.” — SPIN\, Albums of the Year \n“Though many of Cartwheel’s songs are about feeling dejected or heartbroken\, there is an overwhelming warmth to [the album]. It’s a powerful\, hook-heavy shoegaze experiment that pays off in surprising ways.” — Consequence\, Best Albums of 2023 \n“There’s something charmingly scrappy about Hotline TNT’s wistful\, bittersweet songs… but they sound like a million bucks.” — Treble\, Best Albums of 2023 \n“Cartwheel is a glowing achievement of what shoegaze is capable of.” — Paste\, The 50 Best Albums of 2023 \nLISTEN NOW \n\n\nALL SHOWS

Tickets on sale now. \nMommaWelcome to My Blue SkyPolyvinyl Record Co. \nLike so many coming-of-age stories that leave a long-lasting impact\, Momma’s new album Welcome to My Blue Sky takes place during a charmed and turbulent summer—a transformative moment in time that co-founders Etta Friedman and Allegra Weingarten sum up as a period of “parallel chaos.” The Brooklyn-based band’s fourth LP\, over the course of 12 immaculately composed yet immediately potent songs\, documents all the life-altering upheaval the two singer/songwriter/guitarists experienced during a whirlwind mid-2022 tour. Equal parts shared memoir\, communal outpouring\, and riveting emotional travelogue\, each track is infused with both unsparing self-awareness and immense sensitivity\, and the result is a bold leap forward for one of the most creatively uncompromising and singular voices in indie-rock. \n“This record came from a very formative time for us—there was a lot of change that felt so fun and exciting\, but also a lot of instability and heartbreak\,” says Weingarten\, who met Friedman during their high-school years in L.A. and soon struck up a close musical collaboration. As they dealt with the fallout of that phase of their lives (a moment marked by infidelity\, loneliness\, heavy drinking\, and the start of new romance)\, the two friends made a pact to wade through the mess together. “In a way it felt like we flipped our entire lives upside-down\,” says Friedman. “We needed to lean on each other to cope with everything we were going through\, and writing songs together was a big part of working through those feelings and finally putting them to rest.” \nWelcome to My Blue Sky\, produced by their bandmate Aron Kobayashi Ritch\, marks the follow-up to Household Name—a 2022 release that earned acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork\, NYLON\, NME\, and Rolling Stone (including landing on Rob Sheffield’s “Top 20 Albums of 2022” list). In creating their most autobiographical and exactingly realized work to date\, Friedman and Weingarten wrote most of the album together on acoustic guitars before sharing those songs with Kobayashi Ritch. The multi-instrumentalist/engineer then guided the band through a highly methodical demoing process aimed at elevating their sound (or\, as the band puts it\, “setting a new standard for ourselves”) while harnessing the infectious energy they’ve shown in touring with seminal bands like Death Cab For Cutie and Weezer\, and performing at major festivals like Coachella. With the help of drummer Preston Fulks\, Momma arrived at an album matching the raw urgency of rock with the sticky melodies and taut arrangements of pop—a dynamic born from their deepened commitment to finding the most direct vessel for their emotional expression. “With this album we were less concerned with sounding cool and heavy and rock & roll and much more focused on good\, clean songwriting that hopefully inspires people to sing along and mean every word\,” Weingarten reveals. \nOne of the first songs completed for Welcome to My Blue Sky\, “I Want You (Fever)” served as an essential breakthrough in shaping the album’s viscerally charged\, inventive\, and detailed sound. “I remember us writing that in my bedroom and coming up with a riff for the pre-chorus\, and then deciding to sing that part instead of playing it on guitar—which felt so fun and fresh and took the song in a whole new direction\,” Friedman recalls. “I Want You (Fever)\,” with its frenetic textures and hypnotic chorus\, soon evolved into a fantastically loopy portrait of forbidden love. “When we were recording that song I felt such an intense joy that I couldn’t stop smiling\,” says Weingarten. “It felt completely authentic to Momma\, but also like stepping into a whole new era.” \nMainly recorded live with the full band at Studio G in Brooklyn\, Welcome to My Blue Sky takes its title from a gorgeous\, sprawling track embodying a far more wistful mood\, where Momma’s tender introspection is adorned with bittersweet strings and graceful acoustic-guitar work. “We were on tour and stopped at a gas station and saw a sign that said ‘Welcome to My Blue Sky\,’ which hit me as really poetic—although it turned out to be an ad for an oil company\,” Weingarten explains. “We got to the venue and wrote that song so quickly\, and it ended up being about the experience of going on tour and leaving people behind\, and all the unknowns as far as what the future holds for us.” \nReferring to Welcome to My Blue Sky as “an open letter to those who have come in and out of our lives\,” across the album Momma explores the full spectrum of their emotional experience during that summer 2022 tour. On “Ohio All The Time\,” the band slips into a lovely nostalgia as they reminisce about a fleeting moment Friedman likens to “living in our own little dream world\,” imbuing the track with all the punchy effervescence of early-aughts alt-pop. “Rodeo” is written from the perspective of their former romantic partners\, offering up a heavy-hearted anthem channeling both frustration and longing—a tension perfectly echoed in its pummeling riffs\, staccato drum beats\, and indelibly sweet vocal delivery. “There was a lot of infidelity that happened on that tour\, and we wrote ‘Rodeo’ as a way to process that and own up to how we might have made other people feel\,” Friedman points out. Meanwhile\, on “Bottle Blonde\,” Momma brings moody breakbeats and lush synth loops to an intimate meditation on the complexities of their friendship. “That song is partly us talking to our younger selves and telling them everything’s going to be okay\, but it’s also us talking to each other right now\,” says Weingarten. “It’s saying that even if our relationship ebbs and flows\, we know that we’ll always be each other’s anchors no matter what we go through.” \nFor the bookends to Welcome to My Blue Sky\, Momma selected two songs that took them far beyond their comfort zone: the album-opening “Sincerely” (a free-flowing\, acoustic-guitar-driven piece conceived as a farewell to their former lives) and fuzzed-out closing track “My Old Street” (a brutally honest look back at their childhoods). “I’m still really nervous for certain people in my life to hear these songs; they all have a level of vulnerability that feels pretty scary\,” says Weingarten in reflecting on the latter. But in their dedication to\, in Friedman’s words\, “learning how to confess the hard things\,” Momma hopes to inspire others to make peace with the messiest and most uncomfortable truths of their personal experience—and\, in turn\, head into the wild unknown of their own blue sky with confidence\, curiosity\, and self-compassion. \nLISTEN NOW \n \n \n \n ALL SHOWS

SUMMARY:RÓIS
DESCRIPTION:FOGGY NOTIONS PRESENTS\nRÓIS\nBUTTON FACTORY\n14TH NOVEMBER\nSOLD OUT. \n \n TICKETMASTER\n \n\n	\n	Add to calendar	\n \n	\n \n\n\n	Google Calendar\n\n\n	iCalendar\n\n\n	Outlook 365\n\n\n	Outlook Live\n\n\n \nFoggy Notions is proud to present RÓIS for her biggest headline show to date and Irish Wake Tour Finale at The Button Factory on Friday 14th November. Tickets are now sold out. \nRÓIS is a composer\, vocalist\, multi-instrumentalist\, and electronic artist from Fermanagh\, whose songs breathe new life into a forgotten Ireland. Blending elements of folk\, sean-nós\, electronics\, and jazz harmony\, RÓIS’ genre-bending sound transports listeners to a different realm. With shapeshifting sets\, no two performances are ever the same\, as audiences accompany RÓIS into her sound world. Expect twists and turns of tempo and genre\, and moments of sheer magic\, as she conducts the energy of the room. This is a place where the ancient meets the new. \nRÓIS’ ethereal voice has been compared to the likes of Björk\, Meredith Monk and Hatis Noit. It is a vocal style rooted in traditional sean-nós singing\, as she summons the dead and forgotten\, with ancient ‘keening’ songs. With RÓIS’ performances the old and the new are enmeshed\, alongside encapsulating visuals\, in the hope of creating good art. Leading audiences into a realm of mysticism and creating a space for introspection\, these live experiences are completely unique. \nIn late 2024\, RÓIS self-released her acclaimed EP ‘MO LÉAN’. Written and produced by RÓIS with additional production from John Spud Murphy (OXN/Lankum)\, ‘MO LÉAN’ is a concept record\, taking the listener through the grieving process from start to finish\, from the chaos that loss brings\, to the intense emotional outpourings and finally\, a cathartic release. \n‘MO LÉAN’ features several new original recordings and reworks of songs and hymns based around the concept of death\, life\, mourning and catharsis. RÓIS re-imagines the tradition of ‘keening’ in Ireland that goes back to pre-christian times\, a practice in which women would ‘keen’ a lamenting wail at the side of a coffin during a wake. After discovering the last two recordings of keening songs\, RÓIS was inspired by their ethereal melodies to give them a modern reworking yet honouring the original women by sampling them in her adaption. ‘Keeners’ through their voices\, movements and laments\, conveyed the communal expression of grief and allowed those suffering a way to release their sorrow and loss. RÓIS aspires to do the same with the release and her live performances\, by expressing the power of the voice to transcend death and help us relinquish our fear of it. \n“RÓIS is a startling singer…Mo Léan heralds an arresting new talent” – The Guardian (Folk Albums Of The Year\, 2024) \n“Connolly explores wider concepts of death\, grief and catharsis that at times reaches astonishing potency” – The Quietus \nLISTEN NOW \n \n \n \n ALL SHOWS

The album is a gleaming megalopolis\, a satellite view of eras and musical forms\, a reframing of the y2k songbook that is at once awe-struck and mindful of its place in the vastness. Short instrumental interludes serve as portals between towering\, muscular songs. “It ended up being about time\, dinosaurs and space\,” says Nate Amos . “We wanted to present a wide range of styles in a way that acknowledges everything’s just a tiny blip.” \nIn the time since 2023’s Everyone’s Crushed\, their Matador debut and critical breakout – which appeared in end of year lists by The New York Times\, The Guardian\, Pitchfork\, NME\, Vogue\, Wired and Rolling Stone – Rachel Brown and Nate Amos have become a pillar of the city’s alternative music scene and one of its most revered underground exports. Live\, they’ve expanded to a quartet\, joining forces with guitarist Al Nardo and drummer Bailey Wollowitz of NYC duo Fantasy of a Broken Heart. They played huge stages supporting Interpol on tour\, including in front of 160\,000 fans in Mexico City. Back home\, the band established a DIY boat show franchise on the East River\, hosting friends at the heart of the city’s musical vanguard including YHWH Nailgun\, Model/Actriz\, Frost Children\, and Kassie Krut. Brown released a new EP under their thanks for coming moniker\, while Amos released an acclaimed full length under his This Is Lorelei solo project. \nThe duo recorded the bulk of It’s a Beautiful Place last summer\, just as they have every other WFYE release: in Amos’s bedroom\, under the watchful eye of a tattered Robin Williams poster from the Mork & Mindy era. “Basically\,” jokes Amos\, “Robin is like a silent member of Water From Your Eyes.” But this time\, much of the writing and recording were shaped around the dynamics of a full-blooded live group: “When you’re playing with a band you tend to write with one in mind – this was the first time I wrote anything for WFYE imagining us playing anywhere bigger than a basement”\, he observes. \nTrue to this\, ‘Life Signs’ awakens to existence with a nu-metal backbeat and a rhythmic vocal deadpan that wouldn’t be out of place in a 1997 MTV sequence nestled between Bran Van 3000 and Cake. It then takes a hard pivot into a signature WFYE chorus – cascading and celestial. ‘Nights In Armor’ is introduced with a whirlwind of Frusciante Stratocaster bliss leading into a vulnerable Brown soliloquy. \n‘Born 2’ is a worldbuilding guitar onslaught\, its lyrics channeling a preoccupation with sci-fi literature and political theory as Brown’s voice glides overhead: “the world is so common / and born to become / something else”. “I’ve been carrying around The Dispossessed (a 1974 anarchist utopian novel by Ursula K. Le Guin) and There Is No Unhappy Revolution (a 2017 non-fiction by Marcello Tarì) in my backpack for well over a year now\,” Brown says. “They have been to four different continents and across almost every state line. While writing lyrics for the album\, I skimmed both books quite thoroughly.” \nSide A closes with instrumental interlude ‘You Don’t Believe In God?’. Both members come from a church-going upbringing\, Brown having been raised Catholic and Amos Episcopalian. “I wanted to be a priest when I was little\,” Brown recalls\, “before I learned that you had to be born into a different kind of body to get to be the one who directly talks to God. It was there that they began to lose me\, although I have retained some belief in something like God.” Amos adds: “Part of this record is about slowly becoming scared of god again after completely rejecting religion”. \n‘Playing Classics’ is a 6-minute four-on-the-floor epic\, its otherworldly piano motif straddling the uncanny valley where much of WFYE’s sonic world resides. The deceptively straightforward folk-rock of ‘Blood On The Dollar’ finds Brown’s vocals at their most unmediated and emotive\, while Amos’ guitar solo delivers the albums’ soulful country rock zenith. \nThroughout It’s A Beautiful Place is a clear sense of a band who have honed their curveballs into home runs. Looming and melancholy\, wide-eyed and petrified\, it’s Blade Runner with a touch of WALL-E\, it’s Kubrick and Asimov with a hint of Jay and Silent Bob. These are songs that look outward\, conscious of our smallness and questioning our place in the universe while admiring the surrounding beauty. \n“A song can feel like everything\, communicating vast emotional landscapes\,” says Amos\, “but your favourite album is less important than any person. That person is less interesting than any dinosaur. That dinosaur is less important than any mountain. That mountain is boring compared to any planet. That planet is only a part of a solar system. That solar system is microscopic next to any galaxy. If music and all other human practices are meaningless on a cosmic scale why does it still feel so important?” \nPRAISE FOR EVERYONE’S CRUSHED \nThe Guardian #35 (Best Albums of 2023) \nNew York Times (Best Albums of 2023) \nNew York Times (Best Songs of 2023 “Barley”) \nPaste #36 (Best Albums of 2023) \nPitchfork #27 (The 50 Best Albums of 2023) \nPitchfork #26 (The 100 Best Songs of 2023 “Barley”) \nPitchfork (The Best Concerts of 2023) \nRolling Stone (The 100 Best Albums of 2023 #36) \nStereogum #29 (The 50 Best Albums of 2023) \nVogue (Best Albums of 2023) \n“Water From Your Eyes are always thrusting you into the middle of a grand saga you can’t quite grasp” – Pitchfork (8.3 ‘Best New Music’) \n“Genuinely original” – (The Guardian **** ‘Album Of The Week’) \n“When Water From Your Eyes find transcendence it can be quite stunning” – Rolling Stone (****) \n“The songs on Everyone’s Crushed can be slippery\, but there’s a lot of beauty to be found in the scatterbrained mayhem” – Stereogum ‘Album Of The Week’ \n“Tackles themes like the duality of love and pain\, existential horror and capitalism with Dadaist aplomb” – Them \n“Everyone’s Crushed shines an incandescent limelight on Water From Your Eyes at the absolute height of their powers; it’s their best work yet” – Paste (8.3) \n“Everyone’s Crushed marks an exciting new era in the indie big leagues for the duo\, showing its expansive range” – SPIN (Best Music of 2023 So Far) \n“Adventurous music that ranges from clinical experimentation to oozing emotion” – The FADER \n“stacks familiar words and musical elements in unpredictable shapes\, creating an internal logic as alluring as it is mysterious” – New York Times \n“inescapably singular.” – Pop Matters (9/10) \n“… a disorienting collage of endearing slacker pop\, jarring electronica and kaleidoscopic world-building” – DIY \n“… the best\, most carefully considered collection they’ve made to date” – NME \n“chugging electronics given a future-facing overhaul” – Clash \n“One of the quirkiest…most discordant instrumentals that I’ve heard on a track that’s pretty much a pop song” – The Needle Drop on “Barley” \nLISTEN NOW \n\n\n\nALL SHOWS

Tickets on sale now. \nHamilton Leithauser\, the hard-hitting\, Carlyle-crooning frontman of The Walkmen\, has worked the last eight years in the heart of Bedford Stuyvesant\, writing and recording his new breakthrough solo record\, This Side of the Island. Known for his evocative lyricism\, quick wit\, and distinctive voice\, Leithauser has been a significant force in rock ‘n’ roll since the early 2000s NYC scene\, transitioning smoothly from his band’s successes to a flourishing solo career. This Side of the Island boldly turns away from the folk-rockvibes of his two previous records I Had a Dream That You Were Mine and The Loves of Your Life; and introduces a groovier\, bass-heavy\, modern sound—a sound undoubtedly influenced by several decades of music: Sly Stone’s There’s a Riot Goin’ On\, Talking Heads’ Fear of Music\, SZA’s SOS\, Funkadelic’s Maggot Brain\, Randy Newman’s Trouble in Paradise\, Prince’s Parade\, Panda Bear’s Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper\, and Neil Young’s On the Beach (to name a few). \nHamilton loves working on his own schedule at his home studio\, The Struggle Hut\, but after eight years of playing myriad instruments\, a visit to his old friend Aaron Dessner’s upstate Long Pond Studio in the Spring of 2024 is what finally brought the album home. (Leithauser and Dessner originally met when the National opened for the Walkmen in 2001). Dessner\, renowned for his work with The National\, Taylor Swift\, and Gracie Abrams (among many others)\, introduced an enormous modern sound\, and played many different instruments on nearly every track. Leithauser says Dessner “raised the ceiling\, and lowered the floor on the whole thing\,” expanding the record’s emotional and sonic depth. The collaboration resulted in a record that is both timeless and contemporary\, cementing both as versatile and enduring artists in contemporary music. “It took me eight years to make this\,” Hamilton says\, “Longer than any other record I’ve ever worked on. Barack Obama was president when I started “Fist of Flowers”! So much in my life has changed since I started—my daughters grew\, I lost a lot of friends\, and I lost my mother…and it seems like the whole world’s been turned upside down—I live a very different life now\, but I still truly love writing\, recording\, and performing\nmusic.” \nThe lyrics on This Side of the Island showcase Hamilton’s unrelenting optimism and biting humor and as they consider heavy themes of solitude\, love\, loss\, and resilience. Inspired by events in Hamilton’s personal life\, the songs resonate deeply both in today’s polarized social and political world\, as the title track says “It’s not a beautiful country/as much as I’d like it to be”. “What do I know?” “What do I know?” “What do I know?” “What do I know?” —emphasize any word in that title and you’ll change the meaning. Kind of silly questions…until you start digging in. “When the singer burns her torch/no she will not be ignored\, and I love her pain\, and her pride and her shame/but what do I love now?” he asks himself. \n“Ocean Roar” opens with Hamilton and his late friend Richard Swift smoking cigars in a rental car on Wilshire boulevard\, running through a churchyard in Montreal on LSD\, and ends fifteen years later in Bedford Stuyvesant on Hamilton’s 40th birthday; capturing the passage of time and the permanence of loss “Down the flames go dancing into the cake/I wish you’d cuss and fuss with us today”. It’s not sentimental\, it’s reality. “Knockin’ Heart” presents a determined\, stoned\, estranged lover dying to send a message: “From the barnyard to the bullfight/from the bleachers to the spotlight/from the factory to the junkyard/you’ll be knockin’ in my heart!!” In “Off the Beach”\, the narrator recounts a series of failed marriages\, but ends with the forlorned-yet-optimistic “it gets easier every time”. Both “Burn the Boats”\, and album-opener “Fist of Flowers” offer undying-but-maybe-naive longings for nearby-but-maybe-unreachable people. Hamilton is routing for these people because he loves their passion\, their determination\, and their flaws; even if he might not see a happy ending (yet). At the end of the record\, rather than presenting a resolution\, or a lesson learned\, he leaves us with something he does know…a simple\, relatable emotion at full throttle: “I just want you to love me the way I love you”. \nLISTEN NOW \n\n\n\nALL SHOWS
