Foggy Notions presents an unmissable double-bill of two innovative young Irish artists

Kevin Fowley’s bicultural Franco-Irish upbringing shapes À Feu Doux – his debut on renowned label Basin Rock. Reworking traditional French lullabies and folk songs with contemporary arrangements and faint tape manipulations, Fowley glides across folk, jazz, and a rich, shimmering in-between sound. The record earned 4-star reviews in Songlines, MOJO, UNCUT, Record Collector, with features in The Guardian, The Quietus, among others. Tracks received airplay on BBC 6, KEXP, RTE 1, championed by the likes of Guy Garvey, Cerys Matthews, Gideon Coe.

Since the release of À Feu Doux, Fowley toured as special guest with The Weather Station, Oisín Leech, John Francis Flynn and Nadia Reid across Ireland, the UK and Europe.

Louise Gaffney is a visual artist and electronic musician from the West of Ireland. Initially gaining exposure through her work in collaborative projects (Come On Live Long, Dirty Dreamer) she began slowly developing her own work crafting an intricately layered sound and experimenting with analog processes. A classically trained vocalist and pianist, she has been releasing well received albums, developing her musical craft and playing an active role in the contemporary music scene for the past decade.

Louise has written, performed on and extensively toured two acclaimed albums with Irish band Come On Live Long. The second of these albums, In The Still, was nominated for the Choice Music Prize in 2017. She took part in a music documentary series produced by Radio na Gaeltachta, ‘An Seissiun’ composing music with Colm Mac Con Iomaire in Herbert Place Studios. She has written and performed on the well received Dirty Dreamer EP released in 2019 and a Double A-Side, Air To Breathe, released in 2020. In May of 2021 she released her debut solo work, the 5-track collection titled ’Not Even Here’, blending crafted beats with warm synth textures as a bed for glass-like vocals, all finding its timbre through a string of tape machines. The five-track EP took the form of two soaring electronic tracks, an upright piano ballad, and two ambient works. This work was featured on The Quietus, Europe’s largest fully independent music and culture website
